We were invited out with some of the staff on Tuesday night to Laowi Town to a quiz night which was good fun. We then met Silvie, the CP at Munchner Biergarten, the German bar on Wednesday and the Italian restaurant Thursday evenings.
Ningbo is a lovely city, built on 5 rivers, so was a trading post and from the hotel room you can watch the barges go up and down the river. There are loads of fantastic bars and restaurants and it is now quite trendy.

the top and there in front of us was the BIGGEST, GOLDEST BUDDHA IN THE
WORLD!!!! In every little nook and cranny were small Buddha statues. The cave
was all lit with candles and it just sparkled. I said a Buddha prayer – my new
mantra (or old on revised) Health – Happiness – Here! You might think I am
exaggerating, but Brian was totally impressed and he has been to China like a
... humidity - water was dripping off our clothes! Completely disgusting. And there is no light. Anyway we stop and look up and it was like this huge craggy mountain was there. It just appeared, the stars were sparkling and the full moon was just beginning to crest one of the peaks. I'm telling you if it wasn't for the hear it would have been all encompassing. Travelled from Amsterdam to Hongkong on Cathay Pacific airlines. After a 4 hour stop over, boarded a Dragon air plane to Ningbo. This was a shorter 1:55 hour flight. The local driver was waiting in his Chinese VW car. We drove for 1 hour to the Ferry station. Then caught the ferry to Zhoushan Island. The trip car and passenger ferry took 30 minutes. After leaving the ferry, 20 mins later we arrive at the Jinwangjiao Hotel. ...
... for so long. We kept trying to make it there, but for some reason never got there when the weather was still good. Luckily, though, the day we went had pretty great weather for the end of January.
