So after a very late night last night it was up early today to head out for a 9 1/2 hour excursion. We were headed to the spa town of Karlovy Vary- about 20 kilometers from the German border. Arrived in Prague having left half of my liquids at the airport, but I half expected that having packed the equivalent of Boots. First night was interesting, we were staying in a 36 bed dorm so expected to see some ropey behaviour, but not feel it. Me and Fleur were woken up to the sound of crunching Doritos. Fine. Expected. Oh oh the beer the best ! Pilsner was invented here and is sooooo good . Good food David loved the pig shanks , the special Czech duck and dumpling . Me I am trying to keep to salad so I don't look like a dumpling .
... absolutely fantastic. They also served complimentary wine and continuously refilled it throughout the meal.
Tonight we will spend the rest of the evening in the lounge meeting more of our fellow passengers. I am definitely the youngest one on the boat- probably by about 20 years. I get the feeling I stand out quite a bit but that doesn't bother me.
Tomorrow is a tour of mid-evil Nuremberg, then at lunch we sail towards Regensberg!
... skills and who taught us about Czech food & culture. And who additionally served as great translators. The trip finished off with a visit to a town on the way home for lunch. The town square was eerily deserted on a Sunday afternoon, however we did manage to find a nice pizza and pasta place for lunch to finish off what was a great weekend escaping the city and enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings of Bohemia.
