    ... the 8th century - WHOA!

While we didn't go into any of the museums (we spread these out so the kids don't get too bored with them), we did stop and enjoy a traditional treat called a schneeball (snowball) as we meandered back to the camper van. Imagine a crunch dough stuffed with milk chocolate and then dipped in it, too. We split it, and thank goodness we did or we would've been grossly stuffed ourselves! When we finished gorging ourselves, we made our ...

We all decided that someone got sick of him squandering a fortune, so they "did away with him". However, the castle instantly became a hit and people started touring it only six weeks after he died. Today is the day I've been waiting for this whole trip! We visited Schwangau and saw two amazing castles: Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. These are two of the biggest tourist attractions in all of Germany. I had reserved tickets for our tours of the castles and they had to be picked up by ...

... above a waterfall with a view of the castle on one side and a view of the snow caps on the other. We ended our mountain adventure buying steins at the many shops below before catching a bus back to Fussen. At one of the fanciest hotels in the city for the night, we enjoyed a dinner which can only appropriately be described as "himmlisch," or heavenly. Pork roast in a dark beer sauce, a dumpling, red cabbage, Paulaner Original Munchen ...

    Day Three in Fussen

Today again starts with breakfast at 7.30am. Steve goes all the way today with two hard boiled eggs for breakfast. Steve is our driver for the day. We are off to visit the summer palace today. The drive tales us into Austria for a short time. We traveled past a magnificent lake and stopped for a daily shot. Unfortunately the weather is not so good today and there is light rain. Eventually make it to the summer palace. This is the smallest of the three ...
