... we have visited. These murals sparked young Ludwig's love of romantic tales. Neuschwanstein was never lived in but alot had been finished before Ludwig was declared bankrupt. The decorations and furnishings are lavish and once again the walls painted with murals, but on a grander scale. The castle remained blurred by fog and cloud but we could imagine what it would like like in finer weather (with some help from the travel brochure) On returning to shore Celeste and Peter opted to walk directly back to town while the rest of us enjoyed a walk along the river into the top end ...

And so to the end of the Romantic Road

Our plan today was to drive the Romantic Road and pop into one or two of the small towns along the way. Dinkelsbuhl was the first stop...only 50 kms from Rothenburg. The trouble with having a van in Europe is of course parking. Not only that; it's finding the parking lot in which to park. So not finding a carpark on the outside of the walled, historic town of Dinkelsbuhl, we drove right through the middle of it!! By the time ...
