... is made and distributed in Switzerland - not sure if I like knowing that Cheese lasts for a year or not, but it was still quite awesome bc we ate lunch here and everything was full of awesome cheese!

It has been a great start so far - our program has 33 students from all over and it has been fun getting to know everyone and seeing how University life differs in Europe from the U.S!

Miss you all! Auf Wiedersehen (Goodbye)

Yesterday we woke up really early to catch the train to our next family member. Luckily the train station was just up the road so it meant that we were able to leave 15 minutes before it arrived. The train we caught was a scenic train which took us all through the mountains and as high as 2,500 meters above sea level. The views were so incredible! We stopped at Pontresina to change trains and luckily it started snowing just as we got on our next train. At the next stop ...

Day 283
3 hrs, 5 kms

It is a chilly night--but not unbearable. I wake up in the morning feeing quite proud of myself: I've managed to camp out high up Alps--and lived to tell the tale. I continue across the last cow pastures, towards the cozy little ski town of Stuben, which consists mainly just of hotels, restaurants and ski shops. From here, I climb above the tree line once again, up a steep slope and around a bend to another barren looking valley. Without trees, it ...

Day 282 8 hrs, 12 kms Day Totals: 16 hrs, 32 kms The valley starts to climb a bit more steeper, which makes me a bit nervous. The higher I get means the colder it will get at night. Also, it means things get more touristy and thus, more expensive as I approach ski resort towns. In fact the next couple of towns (which are officially just one town) look more ...

1726. On up the Valley

Day 282 2 hrs, 5 kms Dalais is another peaceful little village, built partly in the valley floor, and partly up the grassy slopes. I get off the trail for a bit to make it easier to walk from town to town. I find, a bit to my amusement, that drivers seem utterly baffled when seeing a pedestrian by the road. Even when there's a very wide shoulder and plenty of room for them to drive ...
