... market, but we only had one night there, barely enough time to enjoy the atmosphere. Compared to other markets and such, we found shopping was better in Innsbruck compared to Munich. Swarovski crystal originated here and so that was also a big shopping draw. Their most recent orb for Christmas is exquisite!
While in Munich, I took a side trip without Jon to Salzburg, Austria. I've always wanted to visit Salzburg ever since I saw the "Sound of Music". Our ...

We had planned to see Christmasmarkets in Salzberg, Vienna and Nuremburg but did not really expect it in Innsbruck. It was a pleasant surprise as the market had started on the weekend.

The one in the Aldstadt is small but interesting. There is another one by the river called the Crystal Market as there is huge Swarovski Christmas tree made of crystals that is at the middle of that market. A third market will start this weekend on the main ...

am in the Austrian town of Lermoos but how the hell I ever got here I do not
know as I'm sure its not normally on my route home and looking at the maps its
well off the beaten track from my normal route so I'm totally confused!!

The Alps and Skiing on a Glacier!

After leaving Venice, we hopped on a train which took us to Innsbruck, Austria. This is in the Tirol area in the south western part of Austria. We stayed the night in Innsbruck, and made our way out to Kaunertal the next morning. Innsbruck was the first place that we were able to catch a glimpse of the Alps! These ones weren't snow covered, because they were not very tall. The closer to the glacier we got the more snow we saw! However, ...
