Our second last stop was Salzburg, as we headed back to Switzerland for our flight home. We were also beginning to wind down and reflect on our trip. This meant less powerwalking around the city and more strolling and relaxing on park benches. Salzburg was a nice place to do it because if you're not going to do a sound of music tour there isn't a whole lot to see. Just another nice quaint Austrian town ...
... punks... and surprise, they were super cute and loved to help us... I called them Peter Pan and my Lost Boys!! We arrived at the Hotel and booked our Sound of Music tour, it left at 9 am the next morning, so we called it a night and got up early to have a super good free breakfast and go on the the tour...
The tour lady was super cute... she was just like KB, she loved to sing ...
... we decided to call it a night and head back to the hotel.
Our last day, we had a train leaving around 1 or so...so it didn't give us much time to do anything, so we spent some time on the FREE internet! Gotta take advantage of that when you have it...so luckily the hotel staff didn't mind that we just hang out using the computers. It was time to leave eventually, so we headed to the train station and boarded the train for Prague!
... a romantic, picturesque city, and practically everything closes early. I swear, the place seemed to completely shut down at about 5 PM. So we called it an early night, in order to be ready for some sightseeing the next day!
The next morning, we got up for my first real breakfast and milk since we’d left Paris (I’m surprised I wasn’t suffering withdrawal symptoms or something, though I did ...
... the shop to eat later. Walked back to one of the plazas we stopped in yesterday (I think it was University Platz). I had a little ham and lettuce sandwich on cibatti bread, Mom had a hot dog and Darin had a pizza pretzel. I also got a cinnamon pretzel for dessert and ate it for the rest of the day. It was like a giant cinnamon doughnut...very good! Mom bought some Mozart Balls...when in Salzburg...I only had a bite of one but they were ...
Salzburg, Austria jennie... and seeing some arts in Europe really adds a nice touch to the trip.
Thursday was a foggy cold day, but that didn’t stop us from seeing Prague. While I had been here in the fall with Aaron, it was great to be back and have a little more time to spend getting to know the city. We walked all over the city but especially the area around the central square. We watched the famous clock strike the hour, which is uneventful as always ...
... construction til December. 19 October: Heading to the airport to pick up my new travel buddy [let's call her Mom] and get our car for the week. Buses are extremely easy to use in Salzburg and the Pension Adlerhof is really close to the Hauptbanhof (central/main station). The Salzburg airport is small, so is the car I rented. Incidentally the car is a Volkswagon and never having driven one we had a fun time trying to figure out how to get it into reverse (it's a manual ...

We left Kitzbuhel at 8:30. There was a brief stop in Berchtesgarden, in Germany, at 10:00. Up on the side of the mountain, we could see Hitler's Eagle’s Nest. It was rather chilling to see that part of history. The bunker is now a restaurant. Our rest stop overlooked a valley filled with wonderful homes. What a view! Back on the bus and on to Salzburg. Time 10:35.

The scenery all along the drive was just unbelievable. I cannot adequately describe what I was seeing and feeling. I did not want to take any pictures through the bus window because I was afraid that they would not do the view ...
... When the parade ended, we went to an outdoor cafe to have lunch. As we had lunch, we noticed that the parade kept coming around and around and around and we watched it again (and again) while we ate. It just did not want to end…and we didn’t want it to end, either…it was just so delightful. We could not have asked for a better way to start our vacation.
That evening, we went to St. Johann in Tyrol (a nearby village) for dinner and ...
