Today, we have our shuttle to Demre where we will begin our cruise. It's about 1.5 hours from Olympos. Breakfast at Byram's is a typical Turkish breakfast with made to order omelette. There are olives, yogurt, fruit, cheese, bread. There will be 13 of us on the gulet (Turkish sail boat) cruise on the Turquoise Coast. Judy and I are the oldest by 10 years! After we stuffed ourselves, checked in to our house made of tree... Not exacting a ...

We then visited the old theatre of Aspendos. It was certainly impressive for a structure that has been used continuously for 1800 years, and is still being used today. We learned about the amazing architectural knowledge of the Romans again, but also the amazing attention to detail and how ...

Odyssey in Olympos

... We planned to hike to the mythical Chimaera, self-igniting natural gas flames that had burned from under the rocks in the nearby mountain for thousands of years. The Chimaera was the stuff of nightmares in ancient times – a hideous beast that breathed fire from its underground lair and tormented those who strayed nearby. Between us and the flames lay a deep, rocky ford to wade through and a five-kilometre hike up the mountain. After deliberating this journey ...
