Well we finally swam in the Mediterranean. The water is very clear, temperature was perfect, calm sea...no waves, but I needed my sandals to cope with the very pebbly shore! Did I know there wouldn't be much sand? We are spoilt! Yesterday we walked to the Chimaera...up a mountainside to where fire still burns from crevices in the rocks, it was recommended we visit at night to get the full effect. Thankfully we walked up in daylight and back in the early evening ...

After leaving Egirdir (where travellers are few and far between), we arrived in Antalya, a large modern city on the Mediterranean. Since leaving Cappadocia we have made it to the Turkish coast and spent 3 nights in Antalya and will have our third night here in Olympos tonight. To Antalya it was a long bus ride (~9 hours) with a tram station available to get into town from the bus station - easy in the light but not so when the bus is late (though that isn't unexpected).

In Antalya we stayed in the Old Town which is quite a nice place with good food ...

... like the outside of any old building, but once you entered you were presented with an amazing example of a 1000 year old theatre.

Our last stop on this tour was the Dunden waterfall - spectacular !

We finished the day with a evening stroll through the city, one street we stumbled upon was Umbrella street (as seen on the amazing race) ...

Long car trip today - about 8 hours. Lots of different topography along the way. Once we were out of the Goreme Valley we were into rolling hills and eventually a large flat plain. Lots of agriculture because the ground water is not far below the surface so they are able to irrigate the land which is very fertile volcanic ash. Then back into the hills again in conditions similar to the Kamloops and Southern Okanagan areas. We ...
