... the summit before even stepping outside. Quickly realising our error, we made our way back to the summit and explored Zugspitze! Amazing 360 degree views from up there. Visibility was great. We headed inside and found some lunch. Tasty sausage and mustard with some potato pomms, followed by a baked cheese cake. These Germans know how to eat! We finished lunch and it was 3:10pm. ... monastery run by an order of munks applying their trade at brewing biere and distilling liqueur amongst other things that munks do? The shop was impressive at Kloster Ettal, (Ettal Abbey) we picked up a few beers and a number of different coloured and flavoured liqueurs. Our total lack of German means it will all be a surprise. The train from Venice to Munich is about a 6.5 hour affair, with a brief stop in northern Italy to change from the Italian Trenitalia to the German Deutsche Bahn. The group nearly sleeps through the transfer point and Paul rushes them off just in time. They wait about 45 min for their German train while crushing a few coffees and snacks at the train station cafe.
