Dresden, Saxony, Germany cariverga... a little tour of Dresden too which was really nice! There are some pretty impressive old building. Well technically they are old but were almost destroyed in the war. They have only been rebuilt in the last 5 to 10 years which is amazing! Had a wicked Turkish vegie plate then said our goodbyes and got on the train back to Berlin. Back to public transport for us!
... that I have been laying in bed shivering one moment, sweating the next and can't stop coughing! I have been hallucinating about killing people in my dorm room with a crossbow because they seem to like rustling plastic bags for hours at 6am in the morning. I can't be sure if I yelled out “Calm down b*tches” or if I dream t ...
Dresden, Saxony, Germany bharden... may surrender. Many civilians were killed and beautiful buildings destroyed. The actual city of Dresden is over 800 years old, all that was lost in 1945.
After a two hour train trip north, I was suddenly in southern Germany, another country. You go two hours north in Australia, you might be at the next town in most cases. I was just getting used to Czech way of life, and I was totally overwhelmed when I got out of the station. But for a super-tourist ...
... since no one outside the royal family would give up being Protestants. He had traveled before his ascent to the throne and as a result, his palace and the Zwinger medieval fortress have a variety of building styles. Some of it looking like bad wedding cake, some very Italian, some very French. He also collected things, art, weapons, etc.
Fast forward to Nazi Germany. Dresden was considered then also as a beautiful city with art and such. It ...
... of time. After we were finished with the building, Steven decided to go into the armory museum, while Katy went into the art museum. I decided to sit outside and enjoy the scenery and people watching. It was right about this time that my camera died. And I had left the extra battery in the room, so I was slightly depressed. I waited for Katy and Steven to get out of the museums, then we made our way back to the bus stop to go back to the hostel. We wanted to get rid of a few ...
... Alberta and then to Vancouver for a holiday in the next couple of weeks, he sounded excited about the trip.
We said good-bye and then went and had a beer. It seemed quite expensive, but you have to bring the plastic cups back to get a refund. I guess that means no plastic cups left around and in the garbage as it was a 2 Euro refund.
We went to the gallery and I went in. The main floor was on a local ...
... to find another cache near the Postplatz where there was an interesting design monument, someone says a sculpture - Waterscreen - reminding of a water curtain.
Our last and well-deserved stop was at the Busmann´s Café where we enjoyed our coffee, hot chocolate and delicious cakes.
And the day ended as fast as it had started. But I am pretty sure that we will come back once again as there is so much to see in Dresden!
