Well, Joy rounded the corner of the doorway and started reading the exhibition screens showing the English translation to the Italian notes, which were all about this painting which had been discovered and which was now attributed to Leonardo, how it was found and what all the story was, who the portrait was about etc ..... ... were closed for the day, or opened late, but we did see the cathedral, it's oratorio and the civic museum, where Joy was delighted to find a fresco by Reni. After a break for coffee and croissant we walked up the long steep slope of the Via Veneto to reach a fantastic view point in the Piazza Roma, overlooking the surrounding snow covered hills, and the town spread below. ... sitting with a mouthful of it (halfway through it) trying to swallow it but not able to squeeze it down into any spare digestive space. We swore we wouldn't need to eat for a week!!

At 11.56 all dirty crockery was cleared, an espresso was brought, and drunk, and our glasses were filled with bubbly as the bells chimed midnight and the band in the square outside started up .....magic experience.

... 8217; with pockets and a removable hood. It is three quarter length and most suitable. There are still tourists around but it is raining at a beach resort – so not so much. Lunch is here at home today. It was delicious – we had pasta with prawns and zucchini, which we will try at home; followed by porchetta with yummy broccoli and sfogiatelle again. Very delicious but we are going out to dinner tonight – might die!
