      ... was a fantastic little boardwalk swamp trail that took us right into the middle of one of the swamps. There are alligators all over the place but we didn’t see any. We did see some awesome birds flying around though and the plants and ecosystem were fantastic.       ... feeling. There simply aren't many people out. Granted, it was cloudy, but I don't think that has too much to do with it. Jacksonville Beach isn't Panama City or Destin. It's a residential beach. To the south are some hotels, and the city seems to be making an effort to be more touristy. But between my hotel and Neptune there are only houses, most of which I assume are rentals.
