... 2014 I drove ol Charlie up thru Birmingham, so I guess I was somewhat familiar with the place and I had no trouble getting thru the town this time either. I didn't get much of a chance to gander around because it was bumper to bumper traffic. I'm wondering, "doesn't anybody work anymore". Sa**************ed up to the visitors center to check out the museum and take the cave tour.

We had just paid for our tour and gone outside to get in the departure line when I noticed the visitors center looked closed. The lights ...

... the Caribbean is just out there beyond the horizon, I think.

We rolled on and pitched up at a rural campsite, at a farm homestead - this is horse country. Have just eaten more gumbo at their Mustang grill, but the only music playing was James Blunt unfortunately. Now the bullfrogs are competing loudly for attention and will continue all night. Very warm and humid here.

... Rivers State Park; children whined and grumbled, sleepy bodies shocked by the cold as we carried them into the cabin. We noticed the astounding number of stars visible overhead (none of those cozy warm clouds to keep in some heat) but little else before we all collapsed thankfully into the pre-heated cabin.

We awoke the next morning to a beautiful and tranquil sight. Where Florida meets the southwest corner of Georgia, ...
