After four hundred miles and about seven hours of driving we landed in Mosinee, WI. This park is like no other we've camped in! Being Labor Day weekend the 400 site campground is packed; there is a DJ at the pavilion about 300 feet from us! kids on bikes everywhere, golf carts zipping around, lots of beers being consumed and did I mention, we are next to the main road and boat ...

The two are connected via the Mackinac Bridge that goes over the Straits of Mackinac with Lake Michigan to the West and Lake Huron to the East. Until 1998 it was the World's longest suspension bridge, 950 feet longer than the Golden Gate Bridge. The suspended part is 2.7 km long and the total length is 9 km.

It's almost time!

A travel blog entry by smilk09 on Dec 30, 2013

Well it's about that time, all packed up and ready to fly out tomorrow! I somehow managed to pack everything into my pack and a carryon suitcase- just hoping I'm under the 50 pound limit and that I can lift my suitcase into the overhead compartment (that's my biggest fear). Mom is being surprisingly calm, except she made me bring two purses to be "safe" and modeled how to wear the unsafe purse correctly….. But I can't complain, I'd say ...
