This morning's liftoff from Centennial Airport was fantastic with smooth skies for the 3.25 hours all the way to Ponca City, OK for our first fuel stop and lunch. Interestingly, this was the first time I landed at an airport barely above 1000' MSL (actually the first time landing below 3500') so managing the fuel mixture and resultant cylinder head and exhaust gas temperatures during descent was a new experience. After an ATC-vectored ...

soSteve. With Gabriel in tow we set off first for breakfast, waitress was a real case, she was cool and had a laugh with her.

The best part was watching them wave to passing cars like it was the most Natural thing in ...

... so Lauren, Katie and I pedaled along. It was sunny, 93 degrees, no shade and there was a headwind. Today was tough. BUT, we all stopped at a water park! Fun n' Sun. We went down slides, went into the wave pool, are a funnel cake and relaxed. We had about 9 miles to host after that. Hose showers. Spaghetti dinner. Town Hall, Taylor was really thoughtful and slappy-ed me. Chit chat with Sam Alcorn, Kim, Tay, Anthony and Alicia. Blogging & Orange is the New Black. Night night! ...

... and the conversations you have that make it all doable! Today was a great example of that. We eventually made it to the Sun n' Fun waterpark, chatted with a reporter from the local paper, and played on the slides, lazy river, and wave maker before wrapping up and heading into the host site, which was only about 8 more miles away from the waterpark. After hose showers and spaghetti, we had Town Hall and I am seriously considering bed time right about now. Cherokee ...
