    Great location for EVERYTHING!!!

We only got the chance to stay in New York City for one night, but in the time I stayed at the Marriott, I was not disapointed...as usual with this chain. Check in was fast, and the concierge was extra helpful with calling to re confirm our airport shuttle . The room was quite large for a new york city hotel. AS well, fro being a block from Times Square, it was quiet in itself...the best of both worls, and great location to maximize our time!

Fantastic service and immaculate rooms! Amazing value for money. The front desk was so welcoming upon check in and introduced me to their concierge which if I needed help could organise tours and transport. The free buffet breakfast was just the cherry, on top of the icing on the cake. Would definitely stay there again!

Very handy location mid-town. Walking distance to Times Square, live shows and mid-town attractions. Well run and maintained establishment.

Anyone in our building on Wednesday 8th October at about 4pm may well have thought someone was being murdered with all the screams that were being made. It was in fact Ciara and Sandy (who I met at Heinz) arriving. Their arrival was exciting enough and bought on one round of screams which was only amplified further when I screamed "we're engaged!!". It was so nice being able to tell them face to face. I was also ...

Well, I made it to New York, I am now wondering whether or not my bags are here as well since I was diverted from my original route. I decided to stay in the US airways terminal at JFK before heading over to delta international terminal and get my phone all charged up. And then heading down and figuring out what's up with my luggage. They gave me an edit row seat from Phoenix ...

... more real than watching it on the news when I was only 11. The exhibits showed the same news footage that was shown on the day in 2001, of the planes crashing into the towers, and of the towers collapsing. They also included voice recordings from the doomed passengers on United Flight 93, knowing they were about to die, as well as recordings of the hijackers from with in the cockpit. There was a room with all the victims names and photos, and amongst the things salvaged from ...

    ... various services.

In all the memorial has been structured with great respect and reverence for those who died as well as those who gave so much in the aftermath.

I know this is not in keeping with the other entries in the blog but it was an experience that nobody visiting New York should avoid.
This was an incident which has profoundly changed the lives not only New Yorkers but of every person throughout the entire world.

Having rid myself off my luggage, I set out to discover Manhatten by myself. Whoever has been with me before knows that I am absolutely not the touristy sightseeing type. On my way to the hostel I had passed the Empire State Building and had not noticed it, I do not find it special... Thus, my sightseeing reports might not be what one might be expecting.
