Nice hotel, but not $166 a night nice. Is there an ocean and beach? Stayed in a resort in Maui for this price. Ridiculous.

We had fun visiting the girls on Saturday night. We ate at CottonPatch across from the hotel. We gave Christie the baby gifts that I made... She was thrilled!

Drove to Midland, Tx. And stopped for the night. Very boring. I still hate Texas. Midland, boyhood home of George W. Bush. Before we left Bossier, we stopped at Southern Maid Donuts. World famous and a must have while visiting Louisiana. Similar to Krispy Kreme, and just as delicious. Elvis only made one commercial in his lifetime. It was for Southern Maid.

... Stillness not overrated for sleeping. On ship TV played the first season of Game of Thrones and I watched them all. Still not fond of Ned's Death scene. So Monday everyone just hung out at the bar all day and then we went to the Captains reception. Hilarity ensued and had trouble not laughing too much. The Captain has a theme song they play when he walks in... like Hail to the Chief but with dramatic sailing ...

As usual just getting out of Midland is the most difficult part of the journey. Leave on time? if your not on Southwest, forget it. I have never been on a flight where the take off has been aborted. Just as we began to take off the pilot hit the brakes and aborted. If I had eaten breakfast it would have ...

Liz is the mother of Mark Thomas, really good friend of TEJ's and mountain climber partner. Mark has become special to us as has his mom after her visit to Chicago a couple years ago with Mark. Had to visit her in Midland with her husband, Nick. They took really good care of us dining at local BBQ place, Petroleum Museum which ...

... We found a restaurant called Cork and Pig so the name caught my eye and we went. It was a typical beer drinking Chili's kind of place but a little upscale.
Given the clientele we decided to order pizzas instead of pork ribs. The pizza was good as was the wine. John's margarita was okay. As you can see the Flats jumped into the drinks immediately!! Drunkards!! To allow us to have some wine left over John had to put the Flats in his shirt ...
