    On Our Way to Columbus!

A travel blog entry by jpandpa on Jun 16, 2014

Got off Monday after 12...heading for Columbus, OH 1003 miles away....and had to be there by Wednesday.

Drove just under 300 miles to Perry, GA. Found a stopover at Fair Harbor RV Park just off I75. Neat park all treed, cute little lake in the middle of it, great electric and cable. Just what we needed after getting in around 6 that evening.

... Neither of us have been to Northern Europe and we both have family roots in Sweden. Thought it would be good to experience our ancestoral land. So I need to pack my wedding dress, tux, and more. Can you believe our photographer never got any pictures of US together at our wedding last year? So I am making sure we get some together this time. Arrived yesterday in the pouring rain. Had spent the day doing general store with grist mill in Helen. Did a great hike to Ruby Falls. Went on to Clayton. Visited the Main St Gallery but the right Folk Art wasn't there - some cute birds and a gourd turkey - but not quite right. Had a dynamite lunch in a new restaurant called Fortify and then headed south. Drove through the pour in rain and arrived at the KOA. Had "lovely" take-out from Wendy's and turned in early. Had ...

... First Hotel and we move onto the next building, which is a home for one of the founding families of Perry.

We try the new number again, only to get the same message "there is no site #2" blah, blah, blah. Because I apparently love to torture both George and myself, I go through this same futile exercise 6 or 7 times.

    Finally we get ...

... only be here one more day and who knows when we will be back in Perry, guess I got taken!! Oh well, live and learn.

After lunch we walked through the motor home exhibit area. They had everything from Roadtrek (basically a van with all the trimmings) to a preowned Prevost which we could buy at the show price of $849,000. We walked through that one, but it really didn't have anything I liked. In fact, I really didn't see anything I wanted better than what we currently ...
