Well we did leave on-time this morning -- 6:30 AM sharp. Nothing exciting to report today and no pictures as we are just driving hard to get out to the Grand Canyon. We got into Longview, TX at 3:15. Cajun Christmas
... ago so they are very big and form a beautiful archway up to the mansion. We took a tour of the house learning about the family that owned the plantation and got to see some of the period furniture. Behind the house is another row of oaks a little smaller than the front oaks. It was a beautiful house but the best part of the plantation was the oak alley!

We then walked around the French Quarter of New Orleans for a while, and stopped at an overlook of the Mississippi River. The steamboat the "Natchez" was going by. Looking in the other direction, there was a large Christmas tree, and across the park, there was a beautiful cathedral. Best Little BBQ in Town
Drove into Jefferson Tx. The place IS a booming touristy town! Jefferson has streets full of antiques stores, gift shops, restaurants, a wonderful locally made jam/jelly outlet and all kinds of nostaglic items.
We stopped at Joe;s Riverboat BBQ and had the best BBQ sandwiches. Mine was turkey and the Mr. was pork shoulder. Best meal we have had since leaving Michigan.

Packing and getting ready
We are all getting excited to go on our first family vacation out of state together. We can not wait to see the ocean and the white sanded beaches.
