... we saw Common Loons with a baby and Trumpeter Swans (Travis and I got to add these to our Life Lists). The call of a Common Loon is by far my favorite bird call. Wee-ooo quee….. hoooo-lii!!! There was a seven mile driving tour that is nothing but wetlands and ponds on either side of the road. Our species list ended up not being very long but we only spent a brief amount of time at the refuge.
Just leaving Wisconsin, Lake Superior and the clouds behind. lookin forward to seeing my hometown in about 4.5 hrs'! Mara just got back in the car after getting some food on a store and said "The people are so friendly"...This is not NY, Baby! I'm ready for a hometown ...
... on the area damage). The park is still recovering from this flood, with many of the roads still under repair. Surprisingly, the trails around the bridge were in fantastic condition, allowing for proper exploration of the river gorge and the tilted rock formations. I managed to get a few photos.
