You Can't Always Get What You Want...

We had this *really* ambitious goal today...cover 426 miles and visit three National Park sites in one day...no hill for a climber, huh?

Well...turns out that we spent some extra time exploring the Keweenaw peninsula, so it became obvious that we weren't going to make the Apostle Islands this time (another orphan in the map that we'll need …

The beginning of this new adventure for us began with saying goodbye to Duluth...and all of the material items we could stand to part with. Despite these efforts we still have too much junk. The tour starts with a 5 minute introduction followed by a 10 minute video about the mine's history. We picked up our hard hats and headed for the cage for the ride to the bottom of the mine 2,300 ...

Greg's Version: The high point for today is lunch with Tammy Hoganson. I thought we had plenty of time to drive to Duluth, 4 hours. We decided that we would only stop if something exciting came along. About an hour into the drive something exciting came along, Schoolcraft State Park. I had read in history class that Schoolcraft had found the head waters of the Mississippi River. When I asked my grandfather about that his response was: "Those boys were always getting ...
