Deja vu. Got to the room...ready to just fall into bed...the smoke detector was chirping...you know the sound...the one when the battery needs to be replaced....the manager was very nice and promptly came up with keys to another room down the hall.

        The shower curtain was ripped.

        ... perk.

The cave we toured is smaller than some of the other caverns we've toured over the years but it was unique. The formations look more like beach sand that you've formed shapes out of and the rock formations definitely look "Floridian". The walls of the caves had sea creatures embedded in them. We found shells and other fossilized items from when the area was under the ocean.

Overall it was a fun stop and a convenient stop as part of our larger trip. ...

... we transitioned. I never did see the two F-16s they mentioned but I guess that's by design. With Jay on his way back to Denver, this was my first opportunity to have Stacy as my first officer on a long cross country and, though she was looking for other traffic, the skies were really quiet for the full 3+ hour trip. I requested and executed a practice ILS instrument approach to Runway 32 at Dothan Regional. ATC vectored us to ...

... a more comfortable bed in his spare room for visitors (it is Myrtle Beach) and he told me that keeps people from staying too long....lmao. Smart kid I raised. 2. Sometimes it's better to sit two days somewhere to avoid ice and snow, saving multiple body parts from frostbite, no matter how badly you want to get to your next destination. 3. Micro brew beers are the bomb since you can catch a buzz on your second one...Thanks again ...

JD is in high gear this morning. Took the truck into town for gas and quick Egg McMuffin breakfast. Pack up was quick and on the road by 8:00 am. JD wants to make it in 3 days so we're trying to do 470 miles today. Destination Dothan, AL. It turned 83 degrees in Montgomery - driving with the windows down - nice! Arrived earlier than planned at Pecan Point RV Park, set up and relaxed. Nice level site, easy access, facilities not that great, just ...

Yip it was a boys own day again today with a visit to 2 war museums the first being Battleship Memorial Park a couple of hours out of New Orleans into Alabama. Here they have the Alabama battleship, a flight museum, a sub and a bunch of tanks etc. the day was super sunny and really hot and humid, perfect for riding. We got out of New Orleans at 6 am and it was freeway most of the way so just fast open riding, however ...
