Islands of Adventure
Vera and I decided to get the kids together for a fun weekend outing. We decided on Aquatica (http://aquaticabyseaworld.com) and purchased our tickets. Two days prior to our departure date (when the kids were scheduled to be with me again) the childrens mother informs me that Christopher has a bad cough, which he did. My amazing Vera was able to …

Around the World
... They're calm rides but show off the countries and what they're well known for. There is some sort of food festival here advertised for late September, and I finally see a mention of Australia - I feel like when they built these countries they forgot about the Southern Hemisphere! There is a closed stall that has Australian food advertised but no menu... interesting - I wonder what they class as Aussie food. I vow to google it, to see how far it is from the truth! (Note: ...

Zimmer wirklich gut. Bett bequem, alles sauber.

Historical Traveler Reviews Fairfield Inn & Suites Orlando Universal Studios
What? No guaranteed No-Smoking Rooms?
My family and I tried to book reservations for a 5 night stay in June of 2004 at the Fairfield. They told me they could NOT guarantee a non-smoking room. Members of my family are allergic to smoke and we don't want to leave our room with smelly clothes. We did not book reservations here but booked next door at the Best Western where they DO offer non-smoking rooms and non-smoking floors. Come on, Fairfield, get with the times! Most people don't want to stink from smoking rooms anymore!
Pleased With Our Stay
I thought this hotel worked very well for us. The rooms were clean, it was very close to the attractions, and provided a very standard fare of basics for breakfast (cereals, donuts, bagels, toast, fruit, juice, cofee). I was pretty pleased with the hotel. It wasn't anything extravagent, but we weren't paying anything extravagent either. We will definitely visit this hotel again when Orlando.
Nice hotel at a great price!
For the price you pay, you get a nice, clean place to stay. There are restaurants (Carrabbas, Hooters, Ponderosa, chinese) and fast-food places (BK, etc.) within walking distance. My mini-suite had plenty of room. The "living room" was separate from the bedroom. There was a tv in both rooms. A mini-fridge is included. Who can beat the free continental breakfast? I would definitely stay here again.
Good place for a long weekend
Very nice, very clean hotel. Service was superb, the breakfast was a little tired after our third morning, but a Burger King is in the parking lot, and Chick-fil-A and McDonald's are just down the street less than a mile away, so we just ditched the free breakfast for that.
Walking distance to Universal is a bit of a misnomer. I agree with the reviewer who said pay for a cab on the return. We walked one time and took shuttles two other times to Universal. All three times we took a taxi back, costing us $5-$6 a trip, but well worth it.
Great hotel. If we make it back down that way, we'll def. consider it again.
Not Bad, Solid Place to Stay
Yes this hotel is pretty good. It was clean, staff was good and the breakfast was solid in the morning. Walking distance from Universal this hotel IS NOT. Its probably 1.5 - 2 miles away. You want that you gotta stay a Universal owned hotel, which usually costs big bucks, unless you get a good deal. I had no problems here, it was quiet & clean, which is all you can ask for. I paid $75/night for 5 days over a weekend and a few weekdays. I understand weekdays are much cheaper here then weekends. A cab ride to Universal is $5 and the hotel also provides a free coach bus shuttle (you with 4 or 5 other hotels in the area), best thing about the shuttle is the 2 for 1 drink coupons for City Walk. The driver will give you several. You are just better off catching a cab home though, its cheap and faster then figuring out the bus schedule. The pool is outside & the jacuzzi was broken during our stay. That was the only bad point. If you get a good rate, don't hesistate to stay here. Also they had a computer in the lobby that you could check your email on, $1 gets you 4 minutes of time.
Great for a short stay
We, that is my wife and son, had a very enjoyable stay. The free breakfast was exellent with a good, typical American style choice. If you want to walk to Universal Studios and save the $9 car park fee it is only a 10min walk right across Kirkman Road. The best thing I can say is I would recommend this place for a short stay vacation (sorry holiday) clean, comfortable and easy to find. And the staff were very kind and curtious.
Terrible customer services
The experience I had with this hotel was a nightmare. I reserved and prepaid for two non-smoking rooms online, but when I checked in, only one room was available for me. Although I showed the front desk my confirmation letter and the receipt for two rooms, I was told I can only have one room. The front desk was very rude at the beginning and we almost caught into fight. Although they managed to find us another room, the check-in process took more than an hour, and I was given a smoking room, which was the worst smoking room I stayed ever!!! The next day, I was switched to another room, I thought everything should be taken care of, only when I came back that night did I find that I was switched to another smoking room! When I tried to talk to the manager, I was told that anything booked online was not garanteed, which was nonsense, and they wouldn't do anything to make up for us.
The lesson learned: don't ever prepay for this hotel, so you still have a choice to leave. I will never stay at any Fairfield hotel every again!
Very Nice Stay
This property was convenient to highways and attractions. The room was fresh and clean and nicely furnished. The pool area was nice with plenty of chairs with tables and loungers. An exercise room was available. The staff was top class. The rooms are interior. The public areas were top notch. A continental breakfast was free and a good variety to please most. The price was reasonable. I had a standard two bed room and would stay again. A nice, clean, property.
Best value in Orlando
On my probably 50th trip to Orlando on business I found the new Fairfield Inn at Universal to have all the quality that I expect from Marriott at a great rate. I don't stay annywhare else now. Plus it's at Universal Studios with tons of things to do all day and well into the night. Great place new + clean = me going back.
Nice Affordable Hotel
This is a reasonable hotel to stay if your traveling to Universal Studios. Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 5 days and it's very reasonable. It's a very quiet hotel. There is a firestation across the entrance so that could be annoying if your sleeping and your hearing firetrucks leaving. Universal is directly across the street probably a mile walk to City Island. International Drive is 5mins. by cab. If your looking for a affordable and nice hotel stay here.
