We are in bed, leaving at 2:30 AM!! Flying from Fort Myers to Newark, then on to Duesseldorf on Lufthansa. Packing was a nightmare given that the weather will be all over the place. Still doesn't feel real. We are really looking forward to our adventure! (And hope the Lightning win the Stanley Cup!) Sitting in airport in Fort Myers. Got here early but that's ...

So I boarded the Amtrak train in Lakeland and enjoyed the experience. The windows were wide and the seats big. Wait, maybe I meant that the other way around. Where was Ms. Marcos? Mrs. Howell? Where the students like we were today? Oh well, coffee is ...

Picked up car hire and dropped off RV without a hitch. Car hire was just down the road from the RV hire place, so we stopped off there, swapped all luggage to the car, then Darren drove the RV and I drove the car to the RV hire place.

We were on the road to Tampa by 10.30am, and arrived Tampa by Midday. We located Cruise America office and dropped off some luggage that we wouldn't need on the cruise. We pick up another RV ...

    And the transatlantic cruise begins!

A travel blog entry by jpearson on Apr 07, 2013

... that transatlantic crossings aren't yet popular, and therefore, are amazingly cheap, that I worked on making my dream a reality. At about a quarter of the cost of airfare, I found a 16 day crossing with stops in the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Azores, Malaga and Valencia, finally docking in Barcelona. Benefits of a transatlantic crossing are many. Allow me to debate for you why I chose to travel by ship (considered by many to be an outdated means ...
