Well, we survived our first day of 14 rainy hours on the road, and by 7:30pm, or 8:30 midwest time, we arrived at our campground on Lake Michigan in Indiana. ... into IL along route 80, crossing the Mississippi River. Just south of Chicago, the road went from our comfortable 2 lane divided highway to 6 lanes with lots of “exit only lanes” Yikees!! Give us back the Loneliest Road in America. After getting by the suburbs of Chicago, the road went back to the two lanes – much better.
