Up early to get on the road to bet traffic, we had a 4hr drive ahead of us.
Unfortunately, we where up to early as we got to our first stop 45mins before it opened. The Route 66 Museum, Clinton, OK. We had heard this is one of the better museum along the way and for us, we where not disappointed. We found it interesting to learn the history of the "Main Street ...
As I made my way through Clovis I stopped at a rest station to stretch and get a bite to eat. They had a really cool restaurant called Thai City and I ate the Golden Dragon for $10.95. After that I got gas at a Chevron for $41.66.

High on my bucket was (and I say was) Taos. Poor Tom drove about nine hours, some of them in a raging rain storm. Taos was a bust. We immediately headed for Santa Fe.
The ride, however to Taos was nothing short of spectacular. The landscapes were like paintings. We traveled through sage brush fields and majestic mountains. We miss so much of this beautiful country when we travel by plane.
