    Today we are driving to Atlanta, the next to the last leg of this trip.     ... the Fair, Birmingham put the statue on a 128 ft pedestal on a mountain east of Birmingham. When trying to look at a 57 foot statue that doesn't start until 128 feet up, it's hard to see much detail. They did put in stairs and a elevator to an observation platform close to the top of the pedestal, but that makes it even harder to see the statue, standing right below his feet!
