Adequate accommodations for an overnight stay

The Fairfield Inn was totally booked as many people must stop in Lake City before heading out the next morning for their final destination in Florida. The hotel was clean and functional for a one night stop with an adequate breakfast included in the nightly rate.

... go for something to eat. Having spruced ourselves up & not giving ourselves the chance to sit on the bed (or we wouldn't have gone anywhere) we decided to give the Indian restaurant a try tonight, in the plaza area we went to last night. It was only a short walk, and the Copper Chimney Indian Cuisine looked busy still at 9pm, which was a good sign. We were seated at a lovely cushioned sofa inside. We ordered and thankfully it didn't take long to be served. We had ...

In short:The Melbourne to Sydney flight was fine
The Sydney to lax flight was ok, good in flight entertainment and smooth ride. However the seats were rock hard. Maybe half an hour of sleep the whole trip and cramped
Arriving at LAX was underwhelming. We were zapped. Waiting for our connecting flight for ...

Returning to the now uncrowded Sunset Bar, Catherine and Sandy arrived. Remarkably they told me of how they had entered into a conversation with these two elderly ladies who, as I listened, were they two I had earlier encountered. “Did they ever get joined by their friends?” I asked. As I suspected, there were no friends.

At some time during this cruise, I hope to see these two again so that I can ...

... the world in Thom’s Cessna 180 (dinner was another Earthrounders mini-reunion!). They invited me to their home in the countryside southwest of Lake City along a private airstrip, Little River residential airpark (FL10). Thom and Veronica would like to make the trip to South America and Antarctica someday so we talked about the planning and permit issues. It was a fantastic dinner and great fun to swap stories about our adventures flying little planes to far-flung ...

After 13 months of planning, my South America trip finally started today. The trip was first proposed by my friend Lucas, who has wanted to do a South America cruise that sails around Cape Horn. We looked at options and settled on a 13-night cruise from Valparaiso, Chile (near Santiago) to Buenos Aires. Among the ports of call is the Falkland Islands. The trip is also over the Christmas/New Year's holidays, which was especially attractive to me as my workplace ...
