This hotel was under renovation in the lobby area. Our room should have been renovated too. We had stayed here before and liked it but not this time. The time of day simply stopped from moving on down the road.

We left home at 7:30 after getting gas and had a great drive on snow free highways until we reached our destination. It threatened snow in several spots but never materialized.

We stopped at the Duty Free (unusual for us) and bought some booze and cologne for Richard. When we crossed the border the Customs agent told us he thought we were …

We made it across ohio in 4 hours, and I think we stopped to pee about 20 times. We stayed at Matt's house, an old friend and chef from the Vanderbilt. Since we got in at 11:30 pm the first thing on basil's mind was late night food. And Matt knew just the place. He took him to Bakersfield. If you make it, they have awesome ...

The highway rolled through the countryside. At times there was forest both sides, then farms ons side, followed by corn fields both sides. There were some areas where the land was more open but generally the hills rolled by.

We took a detour off the main road at Wellston for a comfort stop and fluids. Bought tomato and packaged ham for lunch to go with the left over salad. No bread but bought some small pre-packaged square sweet rolls. Had attempted to buy supplies ...

... s sleep and headed out in the rain, one of the few times we have encountered it. Strange because it rained while we were in St. Louis and the short remaining portions of Missouri. Some weird clouds, too! Then, as we crossed the mighty Mississippi into Illinois, it stopped raining. Guess Mother Nature loves Illinois better although it was a dark gloomy sky! Today, we drove five states: MO, IL, IN, KY, and OH. Leaves are not really turning color until we ...
