... the river. The food was vegetarian and honestly didn't look like much, but once I tried it I found the taste was really quite good. We had one last stop before returning to Hoi An, and that was a quiet little village where many carpenters etched ornate patterns into wood. We glanced around, but suspecting this was another tourism ploy to get customers into shops, we slinked out and waited near the boat in the shade. Whilst it had been rainy and cool ...

... for a drink and snacks as we didn't need dinner. Peri was unwell and Nath and sandon were happy to stay at the hotel so the rest of us took off. We ordered beers and cocktails at the two for one happy hour. Happy hour also included a free shisha for 3 or more people. Why not we said, may as well give it a go. We ordered the apple flavour but we really had no idea. We all had a puff (even Chels) and it wasn't like tobacco at all. Not good enough to start a habit ...

Nha Trang is yet another popular beach resort for the "blank faced, unfriendly Russians" - quote from a local Easyrider. Easyriders are usually old war veterans, now tour guides with motorbikes, and are often very friendly with good English. We only stayed in Nha Trang for half a day, waiting for a bus, which was meant to be a train, to Da Nang. Unfortunately the train we were supposed to be getting was fully booked, only the hard wooden seats were available - which isn't an option for ...

... of face planting too. Meanwhile, we sat on some nice loungers with an umbrella and had some cold beers bought out - this is how I like the beach:) We stayed most of the day, taxied back, then went swimming in the pool, all showered again, had a wee nana nap and then walked down to the river again for some street dinner. Again, it was really pretty with all the lampshades hanging everywhere. Then back to the room for some Telly before ...

... from the hotel and biked a few kms to the Cua Dai beach just outside of Hoi An. The bikes were old single speed with hand brakes that squealed quite loud when depressed. We continued with the old bikes to our destination at a slow tourist pace. The beach had nice golden fine sand, although the shore was cluttered with sand bags to hold back the erosion and the area was littered in garbage. We walked past the pushy vendors that wanted us to eat in their restaurant ...
