I did´n get to see munch of Madrid exept the metro system. Went to the airport to straighten things with Air Comet/AeroMexico and then back to the train station. Quite tiring.
But Trini was so nice, a perfect host !
Leon is a nice middle-sized city with a beautifull cathedral and narrow streets typical from spain, and of course a good nightlife. I went out this night with Ruth (Trini´s daughter) and her friends, and had a great time !
I like spain, I´ll be back next year.
León, Castilla y Leon, Spain doctorhugo... br>
Leon is a great walking town, with busy little pedestrian areas, and the lively Barrio Humedo (wet district), that is so named for the high density of tapas bars and large amounts of alcohol consumed there. I've got no problem having a sit down dinner by myself, but I feel too self-conscious about walking into a tapas bar and standing around by myself. I miss my boys! We could have had so much fun in Spain had the original trip ...
León, Castile-León, Spain and Canary Islands pwongStopping just outside the city of Leon in north-central Spain for a drink, we realise we've been unwillingly following the camino the whole day since we left Bilbao...I say unwillingly because we managed to stay on the pilgrims' route even when we suddenly decided to change our own route: too much rain on ...

Vega de Valcarce, Galicia, Spain lindalequesne... and only a small percent of the applications are accepted so I am not sure about that one. The scholarship covers transportation and living expenses in the country and is for a period of one academic year (usually between 8 and 10 months). You can only have less that three years experience in your field and you can only get one in a lifetime. The other option that I have been looking at is the Peace Corps. They have programs for being an English teacher to elementary or ...
Leon, Spain and Canary Islands southamerica4hi... I went out and bought some souvenirs and happened to run into a parade (which isn't all that surprising because it is Semana Santa and there are parades every day this week). I watched the parade for awhile then left and got back on the computer and worked some more until I finally decided it was late enough to go to bed. So, it was pretty much a really boring day, but at least I got a lot done!
León, Spain southamerica4hi... by high walls. The dorm room was enormous, perhaps fifty bank-buds were crammed together. Like most places along the Camino, we whiled away the time eating: this time delicious Chinese food. That evening we joined a group of pilgrims in the courtyard. Some old guys played guitars and sang while we munched away on bread, cheese, and haribo (and 93 euro cents wine as well ...
León, Spain cutiebanana... night he went to bed so early because his back just cramped up, and probably the unheated albergue didn´t help with the tightness. This morning i awoke with a shooting cramp running down my leg, a feeling i haven´t dealt with since i started walking. We keep losing things, the biggest of which was ourselves; robert is ahead, jeff was behind, and me in the middle just waiting for somebody. Of course robert plowed ahead for many reasons, but one that i think is key is pure ...
