I was absently-mindedly gassing up my old Ford 150 the other day when I looked up and froze. In front of me, I mean right there, was a drop dead stunning full-fall gorgeous mountain. Not off- in-the-distance Mt. Rainier, but right there. After lunch we rode down toward Ship Creek to view the snow sculptures which are part of the Fur Rondy activities. Fur Rondy is a week long celebration of the Iditarod which runs the entire week before. This also includes a carnival complete with the usual carnival rides even in the snow. ... I tried to smuggle to much face cream on the plane and my husband gave me his butane lighter to put in my pocket in case the bush plane went down and I needed a fire.
