Baja California: An alternative Thanksgiving.

My brother and I are driving there tomorrow. Yes, MEXICO. I obviously can't go longer than a few month without leaving the country. It's a road trip. Road trips are my absolute favorite kind of trips! Driving, camping and beachin'. I won't have internet, so I'll have to update when I'm back in Salt Lake next week.

... along with last night, which was 100% free thanks to the late "Best Rate Guarantee" deal (may it rest in peace). Over the past 2.5 years, we have stayed in many hotel rooms for free across the country. Alas, Wyndham has changed their Best Rate Guarantee (known affectionately as BRG) policy so that it doesn't include free rooms, and this is the last room we had booked under the BRG deal. It's the end of an era, and boy, did we have a good run.

I learned to snowboard at Brighton about 11 years ago. My dad had to spend years waiting for me at the bottom of the hill, but now I have to wait for him!

... laughs and made plans for the future. CC and I dropped LM off at a concert and we drove to the hotel to watch some in-room movies (The Ugly Truth (you didn't miss anything if you haven't seen it)). I even got a quick glimpse of "The Temple". Oh boy.

With only one more day of driving left, I can say this trip has been a lot more fun than anticipated. Many of our unplanned delays and planned reunions helped to make my trek much more enjoyable than endless hours in the car should be!

Friday #2:

Well, the 11 hr trip was way to long. The guy I sat next to never even spoke to me. If I had known that I would certainly have demanded my seat. All he did was sleep and snore on occasion. I tried to sleep, but couldn't. So I just spent my time watching a movie, looking at my script, or reading 'Tank Girl.' This was a book I picked up cheap somewhere and thought I would give it a go. ... third time in Mexico was my spur-of-the-moment solo trip to Cancun.  An entirely different experience than I had the first two times, which I think shows the diversity of the country.

I hope my brother commits and this trip works out, it would be fun to drive through Vegas, San Diego and revisit Tijuana before exploring some new places in Mexico I haven't been before.  We plan on camping on the beach and maybe fit a dive or two in our trip as well.
