Day 7 - NC, VA

... Beach/Norfolk…

I thought we were supposed to stay there a bit longer, but no, we just kept driving up to stupid Fairfax near stupid Washington D.C., and camped in that same stupid campground…which actually wasn’t a bad campground…I was just upset that we were rushing to get back to Cleveland so damn quick.

At night, we drove a little around Washington D.C.

An elevator takes visitors to the top, where they can gaze over the city from the monument's windows. Last day of work!

... boxes that will be opened like presents upon arriving at the new destination. However prepared I think I am, though, this move will be particularly difficult. Not only have we packed up our things for the eventual move to...? (maybe Colorado), I'm saying goodbye to my family here and many just awesome friends that have become like family to Scooter and I. We were blessed to ...

In the beginning...there was DC???

... it was about 9:30. We walked awhile then coped a squat in front of McLean Garden's fountain. We smoked a couple cigs to kill some time and also leached off someone's wi-fi. We decided to walk back to their house and wait. We sat on the curb with our luggage in the grass until I saw a cockroach! So we moved the luggage onto the sidewalk to guard it. Gary arrived around midnight and we settled in for the night. Today we walked and walked and ...

... my life who personifies the tranqulity in being I search for now, and though she is rife with her own problems and insecurities, I find a sense of home in her presence that comforts me endlessly. I think that is what love is in its purest form. A sense of home and belonging shared by two people that creates a bond impenetrable by the elements of our otherwise lonely daily existance. I have also redirected my career path and ...

The Poet? Don't You Know it?

... After a brief teaching stint at his alma mater (Lyon), Dr. Wolfe began to explore the joy of international education once again, serving as a professor of history and international studies in Brazil, Madagascar, and the Marshall Islands. Years later he would lament the fact that despite all of his travels, he never did visit Panama again, the place of his birth. Upon returning to the United States, Dr. Wolfe taught for twenty-seven ...

Don't Fly USAirway!!

Two very long days later, finally I came back to DC. But it arrived at National Airpot so late (after 11pm), I had to hail a taxi and that added another $15 to my bills. This delay, mainly due to the incapability of US Airway, alone cost me almsot $400 (most are the inflated hotel fee in San Juan). And worse, it probably cost me a potential job opportunity. I was supposedly to ...

Washington DC - time to explore

... around the Elipse as there was something going on there, so I decided not to walk over to the Lincoln Memorial. I turned back round and headed along E Street past the Willard (the oldest hotel in Washington) and Freedom Plaza. The stones on the floor of this plaza are laid out so it looks identical to the Mall. I stopped on the 11th street intersection to go in the Tourist Centre and then over to the Hard Rock Cafe for an earlish dinner (it was about 3:30pm ...

This one time at summer camp...

... her home eagerly anticipating a warm bed, and instead being greeted by a scared puppy and two fat, fat cats. Living arrangements weren't quite what was expected for the three gentlemen, but all too perfect for the Lady Tiff. It seems as it were there were only 2 beds for three people, perhaps this was her wildest fantasy come true? But alas before she could get too excited Steve took one for the team and slept on the dog-smelling cushions. Aim of the next day, to wake early and ...

... not flip flops) become a must under extreme heat with regular walk. So then...we've decided a packing list like this: - 3 T shirts - 1 Polo - 1 Long sleeved shirt - 1 khaki - 1 short - 1 convertible pants (shorts that convert to pants...really useful for entering mosques) - 1 swimming trunk - interiors, socks, shoes Yeah...we might freeze in Quito...but we can get anything that we need there...I think the value of travelling light is high.
