... I don't know if the food was good or if we were hungry but it didn't take long for us to devour it.
The Chicago skyline was much different at night than in the daylight. After weaving through traffic to get out of the city, we remembered how beautiful it was when we were here last. We wanted to get back on the road so we can stay on schedule to get to New Jersey by Tuesday.
Our flight left on time despite being oversold and we even arrived 15 minutes early. Must have been a pretty good tail wind because of it.
We spent the first few hours after our arrival claiming bags and figuring out what track the train we were suppose to take to Copenhagen was on. Buying a train ticket was fairly easy after we figured out the machine, well, after Danielle ...
... O’ Hare. Charlotte has finally got some free time, and comes with us. Afterwards they will continue on to visit Charlotte’s brother.
Our flight is on time, and I finally get the chance to eat some Chicago Pizza, albeit at an airport fast food court. It isn’t Giordano’s, but it isn’t all that bad either.
... the train. History does repeat itself.
I nod off and on as the train rolls by familiar highlights for me. The streets of my youth where I watched those trains, dreaming of someday becoming a passenger train conductor: uniformed, fair, respected, and in charge of the train: the captain a streamlined cruise ship of the land. Lake City, Pa, with it's depot where Abe Lincoln stopped while alive and passed by after he was assasinated. Conneaut, Ohio, where iron ore ...

Whilst sat in hotel lobby waiting for our room to be serviced, we noticed a guy asking for umbrella from reception. Apparently hotel supplies umbrellas to guests who forget to bring their own for duration of stay. Eileen rushed up to receptionist and we had our protection against rain!
Shortly after, we noticed that rain had stopped; so loaded with umbrella and lightweight rain coats ...

... to every kind of lock imaginable. I still haven't found which key goes to my mailbox or the laundry room for that matter. These are 'problems,' however I'm content to have for the payoff of finally beginning to feel like an adult for the first time in my life. The new job starts tomorrow and I'm still not quite sure what I'm in store for. No use in worrying about it now though. Now is for curling up on the couch with a good book and maybe some tv later.
Chicago, Illinois, United States wand3rlustIn early June 2005, I flew to London with my father and mother for a spontaneous weekend trip. After debating the night before about trying to go, I booked a hotel and packed for London. At O'Hare, things didn't look promising as there were weather problems causing delays on connecting flights. The gate agent said my odds were bad and when I saw people getting bumped from business to coach, I figured I would be turning around and ...
