After Ghirardelli, Mary picked up Sean and us. We parked and walked through Eataly which is a new grocery/restaurant Italian concept. We met the girls at Grand Lux at 7pm. Our table was read at that time. Good Timing.

Parking being laughably expensive in Chicago (we paid $16 yesterday for less than an hour while stopping at the downtown Visitors' Centre), we opted for taking the train from our suburban hotel to Chicago's Union Station in the heart of town.

So many songs have been written about Chicago, the most famous no doubt My Kind of Town, Chicago by Frank Sinatra. Today we ourselves fell under Chicago's spell! ...

... and chatting with them certainly made the wait much more bearable. Before I knew it, I was crammed in an elevator, being hurled up 103 floors (over 1,400 feet) to the top of the tower. It was absolutely incredible up there. The view went on for miles and miles. Most people have a tale or two related to the frustrations of waiting for a tradesperson to arrive to repair a broken appliance or whatever. Today we had that frustration in spades - a fridge and a dining table to be delivered (two different suppliers), the existing fridge to be inspected (and hopefully purchased and removed), and the building's maintenance officer to fix a sticky sliding door to the balcony.
