We rendezvous’d near Hampton Roads bridge tunnel with Our White Magic departing from Bluewater Yacht Marina at Hampton. Existing conditions were 15-20 knot NE winds and, due to the close apparent wind angle required to pass through the South Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, we began motor sailing upwind. You can follow our position reports at http://www.winlink.org/userpositions under reporting vessel KI4VYJ.
Today Josh competed at the Dawn of the Shred. He did OK. Of course I can quote many many pro skateboarders who also said, they lost their first competition as well. All I can say was Josh had the nervous jitters during his second run, and his knees kept giving out just before a trick.
The first run went fine! He did well and landed all of his signature tricks, except at the ...
... October 31 we had a pizza party at Veniziano’s in town with Bob and Becky’s family, John and Joan, Jim and Charlene. A front passed through that night. We woke at 3:45 dragging anchor in its squall. We had to reset a couple of times, then stood watch while we held too close for comfort to another vessel. At daybreak we chose to move to another location (although we could have stayed put because the nearby vessel ended up leaving the bay within a few hours).

Lately I've picked up on my activities, and started working with Josh, so I can keep up with this spry dude. I've been around the skate culture for a while, and this longboard was the perfect excuse for me to get my skate legs back, and enjoy the boardwalk at whatever beaches we end up on ...
First Landing State Park, Virginia, United States rickjoshClimbed aboard the Waterman fishing charter at 5:30 am on a crisp, clear morning for a fun day of marlin fishing in Virginia Beach. Our skipper was Captain Mike Standing, who did not waste a moments time in getting us all aboard, stowing our gear, and heading to the fishing grounds of offshore Va Beach.

... span) cannot be changed by the owner so a guru conveniently offered to visit and replace the battery, which is soldered into the phone’s circuit board. His availability was critical because we were only a few days away from our lease expiring at the marina at the end of September and after that date we would be on the water "out of reach". The guru tested all functionality with the phone number we had already established through our Mini-M subscription.
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deuxFinally—back to sailing! We've spent Labor Day week out cruising with Alize. We left Norfolk September 5 sailing on pleasant, sunny N NE 10-15 kt winds to the Severn River on Mobjack Bay. This was the first upwind "test" of our new main sail and rudders. We took a long tack across the Bay then headed for Mobjack. Caught only a couple small bluefish on the clark spoon – no keepers. The next day we headed to ...
Norfolk, Virginia, United States pas_de_deux... that the boats never get rained on and there on thousands of spiders up in the rafters and they poop…..poop…. on my boat. It was covered with ****.
We got into the boat and found it in great shape. The yard had managed to get the power on, bring up the batteries and do a little bit of mechanical work I had requested. And bet of all…..no mildew smell. Gawd, nothing is worse than a mildew boat but ...
Upon moving back to Chesapeake near the end of my 11th grade year, I went to school unannounced. I really pulled off the surprise on my friends. It was so cool to see the looks on their face and get all of the hugs. I graduated with my friends and went to school at Old Dominion in Norfolk. I lived for one semester on campus, just to get the experience, but it really ...
