... I was also able to go and visit the Basilica Cathedral of St. John the Baptist that had some stunning architecture. It is midterm break next week and two friends and I are booked to go on a ski trip on the other side of the island, so it will be great to get to see some more of Newfoundland.

There's nothing like getting a tour from locals, and we got to see so much as the sun was setting. Out to Cape Spear again, which is just such a beautiful place and feels like the edge of the world. ... trails down to some jut-outs in the cliffs but although we could probably get down there, we didn’t want to have to climb back up. To the west of Cabot Tower was Ladies Lookout, which is actually at a higher elevation. There’s some pretty amazing rocks and wave action down below the steep cliffs. The pictures just show a lot of whiteness but we took a few movies which really show the fierceness of the crashing surf.
