      ... cliche hanging on the outside of the San Fran cable car. Well you may laugh, but these are hotly contested berths; people wait multiple cable cars in order to be at the front of the queue and get an outside spot. We weren't desperate for one, but happy to take up the opportunity. Lots of fun! When the cable cars pass one another going opposite directions, the passengers on both cars invariably shout out to one another and wave. Denay (our air b'n'b host) says that no-one in SF catches ...

      - 4 Underwear (Ex Officio, quick dry)
      - 2 base layer tops anticipating being cold in Iceland/Greenland (never used)
      - 2 base layer bottoms - wore with Ex Officio tech pants as they are not as warm as wanted)
      - 1 leather belt
      - 1 pair lightweight gloves
      - 1 wool cap
      - 1 brimmed hiking hat
      - mosquito head net
      - waterproof outer over pants
      - Waterproof rain jacket (good windbreaker too)
      - 3 Long-sleeved ...

      ... the name) we saw a bear with its cub! According to the Ranger we were very lucky & were told that it was a black bear even though it doesn't look very black in the photos.
