    - 2 base layer tops anticipating being cold in Iceland/Greenland (never used)
    - 2 base layer bottoms - wore with Ex Officio tech pants as they are not as warm as wanted)

    - 1 pair lightweight gloves
    - 1 wool cap
    - 1 brimmed hiking hat
    - mosquito head net
    - waterproof outer over pants
    - Waterproof rain jacket (good windbreaker too)

    ... contact with anyone to the shop next to it to get supplies. We find it hard to relax but soon tiredness takes over and we both get to sleep. The next morning we head out early to catch a early tour bus. This time we go another way and to a different stop. This way was far better and the 1st day nerves were starting to go. Unfortunately we see no bus for 45 minutes and we are left standing again. A bus comes and we pounce on it. Our plan was to do the full city loop ...

    ... walked around the interesting although tourist orientated shops and settled on lunch at the Bubba Grumps. Stopped to check out the seals and then continued on to the old-fashioned games arcade on the pier. We walked on along the boardwalk checking out the sites destined for the trolley/ cable car stop. We were entertained by buskers while we waited 45 minutes to catch the trolley car. ...

    ... there is wealth cheek by jowl with grinding poverty ( I cite Valencia st a block from Mission and 21/22/23/24 streets.) Also top of end of Market just next to Castro ( pink dollar rules there). It seems more noticeable here than other US cities I have seen this trip. Cleaning and laundry in the afternoon followed by trip to cinema on Van Ness with Lesley to see Vinterberg's The Hunt - excellent tense thought-provoking film. Mads Mikkelson is my new crush ...
