    ... and a pretty drive to Lake Isabella during the day.

    It is ~5 hours drive from the Bay Area and well worth a long weekend trip.

    Remember - the closest gas station is miles away - maybe ~45-60 mins drive away so keep your fuel tank happy and full!! maybe carry an extra can if you have one!! Always better to be safe when on a fun trip....

    Our stay in Cambria was delightful...giving us a chance to clear our heads from the days windy roads and enjoy a great evening meal outdoors with Gerry. She was a great listener as we retold tales of the ten week travels in South America. Morning breakfast at the airbnb was fine and we heard stories from our hosts about the Hearst castle ( where Bill had been a tour guide) ...

    Woke up early, went to Mass and drove to Santa Cruz. It was great fun using the GPS that Patrick had taught me to use because some of the roads were under construction from Walnut Creek to Santa Cruz and I had no clue which alternative roads to take. With that little gizmo, I drove stress free and really enjoyed the scenery and the challenges of Highway 17.
