      We left Pacific Isle at 2:16 and headed north on I-5. It took us over an hour to get to Camp Pendleton--lots of traffic! No worry ---we're on vacation! Traffic was heavy all the way through LA and the Valley. We are in Le Beck this evening---past Gorman, almost over the Grapevine. We had dinner at Dennys and are staying in a Motel 6.

      ... grabbed my things, naturally thinking after lunch he'd have to go. This was the end destination. Anyway. He payed "lunch for one" and then turned to me and told me to enjoy. His boss called and he had to go ASAP or something.

      ... were bearable. With the set up of the car park and the markings on the ground for the ques to the rides and the enormous grandstands for the shows...this was a relative "quiet" day. Cool to begin with, the sun soon came out and started to heat up nicely. We were still dressed in jeans and jumpers, we were just able to take off our heavier jackets.
