... is the town of Santa Barbara. It is sunny, and the weather is very nice. We wander the pier and the waterfront. It's a nice walk and we're happy for the great weather. Oregon was cold and misty, somewhat like Scotland. Southern California is sunny and clear, even if it's a bit cold (for here). Our next stop is the courthouse. No, we haven't done anything wrong. ... I went for a walk down to the lake; we realised it was actually completely frozen over, which is quite rare for this time of year. We had fun ice 'skating' around (sans skates) and taking some nice photos.

... can take the rest of the journey by train (which it turns out will be even slower). We are almost tempted to turn back but just as we resolve to give it one last try we reach the Legoland turn off on the freeway, and suddenly the traffic (by US standards at least) clears. ... actually works in the restaurant and was on duty the night we were there. We were looked after so well and were extra lucky, as it was lobster night and we had a lovely waitress looking after us. One of the other pilots had recommend several other things for us to do and I think we managed to do most of them.
