We spent our first night at the Holiday Inn Express in Belle Vernon, across from Hoss's.
We started the next day with an early morning breakfast at Eat'nPark with our PA friends. After breakfast, we went to see my Dad and grand parents' graves, and then we hit the road.
For the first part of our trip, we took the back roads through Mt Pleasant, Donegal, and more. At Breezewood we got on to the turnpike for the rest of the ride.
... thus beating Venice by 3! It also boasts 3 rivers all merging in one corner: the Monongahela, the first one we rode on, merges with the Ohio, and round the corner the boat then went up the Allegheny.This city's wealth was built on it's steel industry, so the rivers were very necessary in shipping the cargo. Today we saw a barge being towed with an unknown cargo, so I'm pleased to see that it still is utilised.

After lunch I stopped in Pittsburgh for the Carnegie Museum of Art-- I highly recommend it!
Next I went for a beautiful trail run at Beaver Creek State Park in Ohio... also took a quick bath in my swimsuit as a true Burho ...
... was up to Lake Erie near Cleveland, along the lakeshore to Erie, p PA, then south through Pittsburgh. I am now on a rail trail route of 300+ miles to Wash. DC. I had the pleasure of riding with Steve, a teacher from Columbus for an afternoon and morning, sharing a campsite in between. It was nice to share some stories and learn about life and the education system in Ohio.It was reassuring ...
... was our last preparation meeting, but our first meeting of our actual trip - if that makes any sense at all.
Some family came to this last meeting to meet the team and to hear the itinerary. This could not happen if it was not for the support of many who encourage and contribute to those going and we expressed our thanks to them for their help.
