We then made the 2 mile walk in to town to the Upstream Brewery for beers and dinner. The brewery had been recommended to us by a lady we met in the queue for the Amtrak in Chicago, and she did not steer us wrong. The service was excellent. Had some great beers, very good burgers, and a free dessert ...
... on the track. Drivers can only do a 12 hr shift and then have to change over so five minutes before the next town the crew, from the freight train, needed to change. Amtrak is great - relaxing and always plenty to see. Rolling countryside with heaps of corn as far as the eye can see. (It's coming Trevor!) We arrived in Chicago (Naperville) to a special welcome!
Cameron got to do his stall, then we headed back for a pass down the runway and a landing. After loading up, Alex and I set out at 10, and we climbed into the incredibly smooth but hazy air. We found that the top of the haze layer was 8,500', but we came back down to 6,500' to avoid some of the 20+ knots of headwind at that altitude.

Dawn represented me at the Nebraskans United for Life dinner at the Ramada on 72nd Street in Omaha. I was sorry to miss the event, but was campaigning out of town. Since we are pro-life and pro-family, it was a joy for Dawn to attend and celebrate pro-life with other like-minded people.
