    Day 26 - Oakland

Charlie and I took Maggie out for a short hike that started at the MacArthur trail head in what I believe was Redwood State Forest (near Joaquim Miller Park). It was steeper that I am good at but it was some real exercise, which has been in short supply, so I enjoyed that. It seemed to lead Maggie to a full day of sleeping in the sun-- good to see her so relaxed. Charlie and Ludi had business to take care of, so it was ...

... Gate Bridge! We then got back to the city and caught the hotel drop off bus - we got dropped off but headed straight for the parking where we'd left Trex. After paying through the nose for that - we headed to escape campervans and dropped off Trex. It went well, we explained about the fridge and the windscreen wiper and they asked us how our trip went - and they suggested that we catch the cable car around the city - so we queued for ...

We sat at the front of the cafe windows and got to watch the passers-by. We both love to people watch and saw many things; ...

... of photos, very foggy but no where near as cold as we had been told to expect. Hopped back on 28 and travelled to Fort Mason, which is now a cultural exhibition area. Walked through here and around San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, the Hyde Street Pier to the cable car stop. Waited ages for an available car, finally onboard then hot stopped by police, lost our "grab" and had to be pushed by ...

We kicked off the day with a great breakfast in a restaurant overlooking the bay. Stunning way to start the day. We then wandered around Fisherman's Wharf. A quiet and relaxing way to start the day. The Sea lions were basking in the sun at Pier 39 and at around 10 am we moved to the cruise around the bay. The cruise included some audio commentary explaining the main points of interest and some of the history of the ...
