Today is the last day of the Conference and our last full day in Atlanta. Drive to Orlando tomorrow to join the cruise on the 11th. I left the hotel early and caught the shuttle bus to the Martin Luther King Jnr Historic site. It included the Ebeneza Baptist Church that his father and he were ministers. The church was the centre of his civil rights work. His wife, after his assassination, took over and continued his amazing work for peace ...

... t think the Americans eat at home, they just go to pubs and restaurants all the time! Left there and decided to catch the underground to a Mall that I heard was quite good shopping. The train was an experience.....a bit unnerving but all went well and I arrived at Lennox Mall! Another disappointment...all specialty, upmarket shops! Show me a KMart or Walmart! No, only expensive shops. Had a look around and ...

One thing I learned was why it's called pig iron: the molten iron is allowed to flow from the furnace down a channel with little ingot molds coming off it (like regularly spaced driveways on both sides of a street). The molten iron cools; then the ingots are broken off the channel. The workers thought the ingots attached to the channel looked like ...

... launched a 40 year love we've had of these lands and these peoples. So what do I remember about our first time in Colombia? For one thing, as I suggested above, it's a beautiful country, rising from the Amazon rainforest to straddle three finger-like ranges of the Andes and drop to the coastline of the Caribbean. It was along that coastline, being poled though the lush mangrove swamps, that our travel planning gave way to blissful enjoyment. In the nation's ...

        Georgia Aquarium & Restaurant Eugene

        ... dolphin show.

After the aquarium closed I went to Restaurant Eugene for dinner. It's one of two Atlanta restaurants on the 101 Best Restaurants in America list compiled by The Daily Meal web site, coming in at number 66.

I got the five-course vegetarian tasting menu plus the optional farm egg course. I had a pleasant meal. After dinner I headed back to my friend's house for the night.
