        ... green one, next to a mauve one. It’s refreshing after the carefully “blended, bland” look we’ve seen in other countries or the unpainted, often grey tones of Polish villages. The roof tiles are orangey- red and look wonderful nestled in the valleys. Closer examination is not so pretty. It reveals some that are definitely no longer weather proof.

        ... van and tried one of the snacks at the food stall. Baked in foil over hot coals the woman described it as a baguette. Sounds good but it tasted terrible! Very yeasty, sour and crumbly and eaten with a fork, and it came with yoghurt. Seemed to be popular with everybody else.

        ... old town was really well lit, so we spent the next few hours walking around Sibiu taking pictures.

        We woke up early and enjoyed the free breakfast provided by the hostel. They had all sorts of cereal and bread/jams, but they also had fresh eggs that you could prepare for yourself!         ... We found it, but unfortunately the bread was sold out. We did get coffee (this time not for Louise) and had the possibility to eat our own lunch and chat with the lady of the bakery (born in Germany, and emigrated some ten years ago).

        We also had the opportunity to check our emails, to find out that we would have a host (and so a private guide and a free bed) in Sibiu. A nice surprise we had not hoped for anymore.
