Good quality, low cost alternative in Dubai

If you are visiting Dubai and looking for a good quality low cost brand name hotel, then go with Express Holiday Inn.

We have stayed there on more than one trip. The rooms are clean, breakfast is good and transport is available to get around. Dont be mislead by the name - The Express Holiday Inn Jumeirah is located near the docks and is far away from the Jumeirah beach area. But it is lcoated close to the old part of Dubai near Deira City, Meena Bazaar and Naif Souk.

Affordable and close to Deira City, Mina Bazaar and Al Karama

If you are looking for affordable accomodation in Dubai, then give this place a chance. It is located far from the top hotels, but is well serviced by taxis and is close to the shopping malls. Once at a mall use the monorail to get around.

The bell boys / security guys are also able to provide good options with transport and tours.

Rooms are clean and well serviced. Breakfast is basic but good.

Last day of our epic journey and we can hardly believe it :-(

So to cheer ourselves up; we thought what better way to go out (and go home) with a bang and spend the rest of our hard earned money....!

After a huge breakfast in the hotel, we checked out, dumped our bags for the last time and jumped in a cab to Deira - the old town/ …

... engineering of this whole city is spectacular. On Palm Jumeirah, only rich foreigners have their houses. We also saw the largest hotel in the Emirates the Atlantis... Something to the tune of 1500 rooms! We then headed back into town to the Mall of the Emirates to Ski Dubai. An indoor, 400m long ski run, toboggan ride and other things. It was totally amazing! Last stop was at a Dubai Mall and the water and light show. It was to music and rather beautiful. We ...

... Toronto (14.5 hours). Plane was late by an hour. Got to see so many cultures on board that flight. Saw a man with 3 wives and 9 kids boarding the plane alongside me! Was very impressed with the Emirates food on board the flight if anyone else cares... aeroplane food is always interesting to me. No alcohol on either flight!?

Arrived safe and sound in Toronto at Pearson International Airport.

... to come up with the same pictures. Nothing fancy here carrying a tripod around apparently, although I can assure you one thing: this Manfrotto was one of the best they ever made. I'm afraid it was also one of the heaviest they ever made. This kind of photography consumes a lot of time. I told Inge I would be back within half an hour. Eventually that became two hours. When I got back I was so excited about these that I wanted to post them ...

... quite large. Still feeling very tired and not very well so lemon and sugar creeps for dinner and a juice. Although it is hot outside, everywhere is air conditioned and is actually quite cold so covering up is not an issues in the heat. Bus didn't pick us up until 10pm so a long day, but got to see a lot of Dubai on the bus. Very dry, very extravagant and still lots of desert and construction as it is still such a new city (40 years ...
