Apparently tree-ring dating reveals the house was probably not built until the mid 13th century, 40 years after King John's death in 1216. Whether it is or not - it could have been! Since we are back(flash)packer travellers, it is traditional to travel on a very restricted budget. Now clearly there has to be a balance as it would take way too long to get where we want to by walking-the cheapest option. There does however, seem to be a strong correlation between cost and length of journey time. On the other hand I rather like the challenge of getting that price tag down.
