... has got me thinking about the country and people of France in general. In many ways I feel a kinship with the French. They prefer things quiet and stoic to the point where they will ask someone to leave who is talking on their phone on a train. My antisocial tendencies really appreciate that. However, there are few smiles and I can’t remember hearing any laughter here.
There is also a great deal of pride in being French. Pride isn’t always a bad thing but ...
... So pretty much all I did today was go to church after church.
The first one I went to was dedicated to Saint Hilaire (bishop in 350 AD). Honestly, he seems kinda dull compared to the other saints I’ve run across on this trip. After we strolled around Poitiers for a while, mainly the shopping area, which is quite big and very clean. It was pleasant to walk without the hustle and bustle of the larger cities.
Picked up some supplies for lunch on the road tomorrow and back to the hotel for a hot shower and a reasonably early night.
