So, I engaged the video mode and got about a minute of the lion pacing us down the road until he decided we weren't interesting and turned into the bush.
We also found another male lion off the road maybe 50m just laying in a clearing and not too interested in anyone ...

We settled into a great chicken parmesian dinner cooked by Craig on this propane-powered grill and settled in for the night to repeat the schedule tomorrow.
Incidentally, one aspect that struck me as significant is the "quiet" around here after dark. Since the park is closed after 5:30pm (other than one or two "ranger" drives), there's no vehicle sounds. Most everyone "eats ...
