    The Adventure really begins

    ... rapidly approaching, and our desire to arrive in Nelspruit before dark, we had to cut our visit short.

    Just after sunset we arrived at our lodge in Nelspruit, Khayalami Lodge, and after a traditional meal - pizza (well it's a tradition somewhere) we returned to our very beautiful room where we went to bed early, after two days in transit.

    Tomorrow, off to the Elephant Sanctuary.

    ... where there was a little water gave us a excellent view of a pair of Saddle-billed Storks. Great photo of one of them in flight and landing face on to the camera.

    We arrived at camp exhausted. The main part of the camp with shop and restaurant proved tremendous but the chalet a little tired and rundown.     ... are so tall and majestic. Yesterday we saw several near the lions. I definitely didn’t want to see one taken by a lion. Fortunately it didn’t happen. They went in different directions.
    Cape buffalo - We saw a big herd of them splashing in a waterhole one day as well as odd ones on other occasions. There were about 200 in the herd but only about 50 there.. Very dangerous apparently.

    ... that we increased the population of whites by many hundred percent. Our first voyage into town was accompanied by looks of utter suprise, though with a handful fo siswati phrases, people were welcoming. It is different to how I imagined it in some respects- not least for how close we are to the cntre. It is definitely nice to feel that despite us all living together, we are still very much part of the community.
